Laughing Donut | 笑口棗

Laughing Donut Ingredients

200 Grams Cake Flour
✿ 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
✿ ¼ Teaspoon Baking Soda
✿ 60 Grams Sugar
✿ ¼ Teaspoon Salt
✿ 1 Egg
✿ 20 Milliliters Oil
✿ 40 Milliliters Water
Sesame Seeds

Sift the flour. Whisk together all the dry ingredients to combine. Add all the other ingredients. Mix and knead until a dough forms.

Do not knead too much.
Wrap with plastic film. Rest for 30 Min



Roll dough out into a string. Cut in small pieces.
Roll each piece into a ball. Dip the balls in water. Coat with sesame seeds.





Heat up oil 320 - 330F. Deep fry on low heat for 4 - 5 min. After 4 minthe ball will start to burst. Turn up heat to medium and deep fry until golden

TIPS & NOTES
✿ Season dough to taste. Adjust sugar to personal preferences.
✿ If you knead the dough too much, too much gluten will form and the dough balls will not ‘explode’ when deep frying.
