Christmas Themed Waffles

Are you bored of regular waffles? Let’s learn how to make Matcha Waffles for our Christmas themed breakfast bento!

What Is A Bento?

What is a bento? A bento (弁当) is a single-portion take-out or home-packed meal of Japanese origin. A traditional bento may contain rice or noodles with fish or meat, often with pickled and cooked vegetables in a box.

We will be making a different kind of bento! We will be making a sweet bento box & turning the waffles into a Christmas tree! To change the basic waffles, we will also be adding Matcha to the waffles to make Matcha waffles!

Matcha Waffles

Matcha waffles Ingredients

🎄 1 Cup Pancake/Waffle Mix
🎄 Water (According Box Instructions)
🎄 1 Tablespoon Matcha + 2 Tablespoons Hot Water

To make the Matcha waffle batter use 1 cup of pancake/waffle batter. Add water according box instructions.

For the Matcha flavor and green color mix Matcha powder with hot water. Stir well until clomp free. Add the Matcha liquid to the waffle batter and mix until combined.




Add Batter onto the waffle maker. Cook until ready. approx. 3 - 5 minutes. Cut the waffles into triangles.





To make it look like a Christmas tree, place one triangle on the bottom. Stack the other 3 triangles on top of each other to make it look like a tree. Decorate with icing and or chocolate and sprinkles. Add other Christmas themed food to the bento if preferred!

TIPS & NOTES
✿ Instead of using Matcha powder, you could use food coloring as well.
✿ Decorate your bento with more Christmas themed ingredients!
