Let’s make Chinese steamed fish for new years eve! In Chinese culture, steamed fish is considered a lucky and essential dish for celebrating the New Year, as it symbolizes prosperity and abundance for the coming year. Steaming the fish whole represents the wholeness and completeness of a family. This is why it is an important dish during New Year's celebrations.

The dish typically consists of a whole fish, steamed with a variety of seasonings and sauces, such as soy sauce, ginger, and scallions. The fish is cooked until tender and flaky, resulting in a melt-in-your-mouth texture and savory taste.

Steamed Fish | 薑葱蒸魚

Steamed FIsh Ingredients

✿ Black Sea Bass
✿ Ginger
✿ Spring Onion

✿ 2 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
✿ 1½ Teaspoon Sugar
✿ 3 Teaspoons Water
✿ 1 Teaspoon Sesame Oil

✿ Oil

Clean the fish. I had the fish gutted and descaled when I bought it.

Prepare the spring onions and ginger. Cut spring onions in strips. Cut a few ginger slices for the stuffing. Cut the remaining ginger in strips.

Combine all the ingredients for the sauce. Set aside until use.

Stuff inside of the fish with a few slices of spring onion and ginger. PLace 2 strips of spring onion on the bottom and place a few slices of ginger on top. Steam on high heat for 10 Min. Remove ginger and spring onion. Drain the liquid.




Put spring onion and ginger slices on top. Pour HOT oil over the garnish to release the aromatic.
