Bento Box Ideas For Kids
Melon pan, also known as melon bread, is a sweet and fluffy Japanese pastry that has been gaining popularity all over the world. Its unique shape and flavor make it a favorite among foodies and dessert lovers alike.
Despite its name, melon pan does not actually contain any melon. The name "melon pan" comes from the cookie crust on top of the bread, which gives it a distinct melon-like appearance.
The bread itself is made from a sweet dough, often flavored with vanilla or lemon, and is light and airy in texture. The cookie crust is made from a mix of sugar, butter, and flour, and is placed on top of the bread before baking.
It can be enjoyed as a sweet snack on its own, or paired with a cup of tea or coffee. Today we will add the melon pan to our bento!

Melon Pan Bento
Melon Pan Ingredients
✿ Bread Dough
✿ 60 Grams Powdered Sugar
✿ 90 Grams Flour
✿ ½ Teaspoon Custard Powder
✿ Pinch Of Salt
✿ 50 Grams Butter
✿ 20 Grams Condensed Milk
✿ Food Coloring/Flavoring (Optional)

Use your favorite bread dough. Click here for one of my favorite bread dough recipes.
Divide dough in desired sizes. Shape in a ball. Let it proof until double in size.
For the melon pan topping, combine all the ingredients together. Add food coloring and or flavoring if preferred. Take a piece of the topping and shape it in a ball. Flatten until approx 2MM thick.
Place it on top of the proofed bread. Dip the top in sugar (Optional). Use a knife to carve the pattern. Bake at 360F for 15 - 20 Min
In our bento we also got vanilla pudding with chocolate sprinkles, strawberries, grapes and hello kitty cookies.
