How To Make Mochi Ice Cream

Since the summer is here it is time to make some treats to cool down. Today we will learn how to make mochi ice cream!

This Japanese-inspired treat combines the chewy texture of traditional mochi with the creamy goodness of premium ice cream. By making homemade mochi ice cream you can choose your favorite ice cream flavor and mochi flavor.

I will teach you how to make the chewy mochi today so you can fill it with your favorite ice cream.

Ice Cream Mochi

Ice Cream Mochi Ingredients

✿ 100 Grams Glutinous Rice Flour
✿ 140 Milliliters (Chocolate) Milk
✿ Favorite Ice Cream

In a bowl add glutinous rice flour and milk.
Whisk to combine. Strain into a greased bowl.

Steam on medium heat for 20 min.


Mix with a spatula. When cool enough to handle transfer to a kneading mat.

Grease gloves to prevent sticking. Knead until smooth and stretchy. Shape into a ball. Let it cool down completely.

Prep the ice cream. Scoop out balls and freeze.


Cut/divide dough in desired sizes. I divided mine in 8 pieces. Shape them into a ball.

Dust with cornstarch. Press and stretch to flatten.
Add ice cream and close the mochi. Wrap with plastic film and freeze.
