Dutch Pancake | Pannenkoeken

What Is Pannenkoeken

Today I will be teaching you a Dutch recipe!! I will show you how to make Dutch Pancakes from scratch! In the Netherlands we call it Pannenkoeken!

What Is The Difference Between Dutch And American PAncakes

You probably wondering what’s the difference between Dutch and American Pancakes? Well Dutch Pancakes are much thinner and larger than the American/Western style Pancakes! Sometimes they’re confused with crepes as well. Compared to crepes the dutch pancakes are a little bit thicker.

How To Eat Dutch Pancakes

As a kid I always loved when my mom made fresh Pancakes at home. They taste so good when they’re still hot! It takes some time to make them but it’s definitely worth it, they’re so yummy!

These pancakes are very versatile. The plain pancakes which I am showing you are usually topped with powdered sugar or Appelstroop (apple butter). Once topped, you roll it up and eat it! You can also make different versions of pancakes using this batter. After or before pouring the batter in the pan you can add some slices of bacon, apples, cheese, or other ingredients to make a special pancake!

You can enjoy Pannenkoeken as a snack during any time of the day and for any occasion. Usually in the Netherlands the pannenkoeken are served for dinner, or it’s a common activity for birthday parties to eat pannenkoeken at a pancake house! I’m confident that no one can skip this delicious sweet snack, everyone will love this different take on Pancakes!
