What is Mexican Flan?

Mexican flan is a type of custard dessert that is typically made with eggs, condensed milk, evaporated milk, sugar, and vanilla. What makes Mexican flan unique is its delicate texture and the decadent caramel syrup that forms at the bottom, creating a sweet and luxurious flavor with each bite.

Leche Flan

Flan Ingredients

Caramel:
✿ 80 Grams Sugar
✿ ¼ Cup Water

Leche Flan:
✿ 6 Egg Yolks
✿ 1 Cup Condensed Milk
✿ ¾ Cup Evaporated Milk
✿ 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract


Caramel For Flan Recipe

Make Caramel

Cook Until Golden Brown.

Leche Flan

Make Custard

Strain Into Mold.

Mexican Flan

Bake In Waterbath

Bake 350F | 55 - 65 Min.

Cook sugar mixture on low/medium heat. Swirl pan to mix. Keep cooking until golden/amber brown.

Pour in mold. I am using a 6 inch mold. Swirl around to coat the bottom.


Add all the ingredients for the custard together. Whisk until combined. Strain into mold.

Cover with foil.


Bake in a water bath at 350F | 55 - 65 Min.
Remove foil. Let it cool down to room temp. Once cooled down, cover with plastic film and refrigerate overnight.

When ready to serve, run a knife along the edges. Place a plate on top and flip!
