How To Make Spam Musubi
In this post I will teach you how to make Spam musubi | スパムむすび, also known as Nigiri, Onigiro or Omusubi. It’s a block of rice with spam and surrounded with a nori sheet.
With the current situation in most cities and countries around the world, I decided to make a recipe with non-perishable items I found in my pantry. Lately it has been chaos everywhere. Shelves are empty and in most countries the food is limited.
Do you have some dry or canned food and are getting bored of it? Are you one of the many people who are on lockdown and don’t know what food to make? If you answered YES, then I hope that today’s recipe will help you make an easy and delicious meal with canned & dry food! All you need is canned spam, rice, seaweed and if you’ve eggs you can use that too!
Spam musubi will be a great item in lunchboxes to take to work or for your kid to school. You can make this Spam Musubi also on a regular day as well when crave for a yummy snack.

Spam Musubi (スパムむすび)
Ingredients
✿ Canned Spam
✿ Seaweed
✿ 140 Grams Of Uncooked Rice
✿ Egg (Optional)

Optional: Clean the rice.
Once clean, add water for cooking according to the type of rice you’re using. While the rice is cooking we can prepare the other ingredients
Cut the seaweed in thick strips.
Cut the spam in thick slices. Cook the spam to give it a nice sear on both sides.
Optional: Cook an egg if preferred.
Optional: Clean the spam can, so you can use that to shape the spam musubi.
If using a spam can place some plastic wrap inside so you can take it out easier. Wet your hands a little bit with water to help prevent the rice sticking to your hands. First shape the rice, add spam on top and wrap it with the seaweed!
*Add egg if preferred.
TIPS & NOTES
✿ You can cook the spam to give it a nice sear.
✿ Use the spam box to make it easier to shape.
