In today’s post we will learn how to make Black sesame paste! Black sesame paste is used in Asian cuisine. It is used in cooking, baking and for desserts. The version I will be showing you today has a sweet and savory taste. It’s rich and nutty in flavor. With added textures from the peanuts.
How To Use Black Sesame Paste
You can also incorporate it in your homemade food for example, add it to your ice cream, cakes or bread to add a nice nutty flavor to it. Below you can find some more recipes where you can use this black sesame paste as a filling.

Black Sesame Paste | 黑芝麻酱
Ingredients
✿ 50 Grams Black Sesame Seeds
✿ ½ Cup Peanuts (Optional)
✿ 150 Grams Sugar
✿ 60 Grams Unsalted Butter

Toast the sesame seeds to enhance the flavor on low - medium flame for 5 -7 minutes, or until you see some smoke.
Keep stirring to prevent burning.
Repeat the same procedure for the peanuts.
Blend sugar and toasted sesame seeds until fine.
Blend some or all the the peanuts fine as well.
*I personally like to leave some peanuts to crush to add some texture to the paste. Use a rolling pin to crush the peanuts.
Combine all the ingredients and all the butter. Mix everything with a fork until combined.
*It will be really runny but will harden when cooled down.
Refrigerate for 1 hour before using. When ready to use, use a fork or spoon to fluff it up and soften it.
Use as a filling for mooncake and bread! ✿◕ ‿ ◕✿

TIPS & NOTES
✿ Peanuts is optional in this recipe. I add it for some extra texture and flavor. You can blend all the peanuts or blend half to leave some texture.
✿ Store paste in fridge up to a week.
✿ Adjust sugar to personal preferences.
