Today we will learn how to make congee! Congee also known as rice porridge is one of the best comfort foods I can think of to have during the cold weather! Congee is also known as juk in chinese.
Today I will show you a basic chinese rice porridge recipe with chicken. Feel free to use other ingredients to add to your homemade congee. Once you know how to make rice porridge, you can make lot’s of other varieties. Rice congee is super simple to make and great for cold winter days. You can eat Chinese rice porridge plain or add other toppings to the congee to make it your own customized best rice porridge recipe. Chinese dough sticks are usually served with congee. It’s a fried dough that you will dip in the congee. Also known as Youtiao.
We usually also eat congee when we are feeling sick. Chinese congee is light on the stomach and easy to digest. This easy rice porridge recipe is perfect to make for the cold winter days. Follow me step by step to make homemade congee!

Chinese Rice Porridge | Congee 鸡粥
Congee INGREDIENTS
✿ ¾ Cup Rice
✿ 340 Grams Chicken
✿ 8 Cups Water
✿ Piece Of Ginger
✿ 2 Spring Onion
✿ Season To Taste

HOMEMADE To Make Congee
Cut ginger in chunks. Cut spring onions in small pieces.
Cut chicken in desired sizes. Season chicken to taste.
Wash the rice.
Add the water to a pan. Bring water to a boil. Add the ginger and rice. Bring it to a boil again.
Once boiling, let it simmer for 25 min.
Whisk to break up the rice. Add the chicken and spring onion. Whisk again to separate the chicken.
Season congee to taste. I used chicken powder and pepper.
Cook until desired thickness.
Serve hot! Garnish with some spring onion and serve with Youtiao.

TIPS & NOTES
✿ You can use water or chicken broth.
✿ Use your own favorite ingredients for the congee.
