Today we will make a dutch recipe. We will make speculaas cake! I love the spice speculaas and was looking to make more recipes using the spice. Why not try to make a pound cake with it? The speculaas cake combines the warmth of traditional Dutch spices with a soft and moist cake texture

What is speculaas spice?

Speculaas spice is a blend of aromatic spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger. You can personalize the spice to your personal preferences. I used my homemade speculaas spice for the cake but if youโ€™re living in europe you will be able to find the spice in the store.

Speculaas Cake Ingredients

*Speculaas Spice:
โœฟ 4 Tablespoons Cinnamon
โœฟ 2 Tablespoons Nutmeg
โœฟ 2 Tablespoons Ginger
โœฟ 2 Tablespoons Cardamom
โœฟ 2 Teaspoons Cloves

Speculaas Cake:
โœฟ 200 Grams Brown Sugar
โœฟ 200 Grams Butter
โœฟ 4 Eggs
โœฟ 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
โœฟ 200 Grams Flour
โœฟ Pinch Of Salt
โœฟ 2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
โœฟ 4 Teaspoons Speculaas Spice*

Make Batter

Combine Dry With Wet Ingredients.

Make Batter

Beat Until A Smooth Batter.

Scoop In Mold

Bake 320F | 50 - 60 Min.

Cool Down Completely

Cool Down Before Cutting.

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. You can use a hand mixer or stand mixer. Add eggs one at a time and vanilla extract. Beat until incorporated.





Sift Flour. Add salt and baking powder. Whisk until combined. Once combined itโ€™s done. Do not over whisk.

Scoop in greased mold. Smooth out the top.
Bake 320F | 50 - 60 Min

Cool down in mold for 10 min, then transfer to a cooling rack. Slice when cooled down completely.
