It is almost Christmas time. Today we will learn how to make oliebollen with a twist. I have made oliebollen from scratch before and it is a huge hit on my channel! Click here if you want to learn how to make oliebollen from scratch.

Today we will make the dutch recipe for oliebollen but with a twist! Usually oliebollen are plain, with raisins or apples. Today we will add stroopwafels to our oliebollen recept! We will be combining 2 traditional dutch foods together. Stroopwafels and oliebollen!

What Are Oliebollen?

Stroopwafels are thin round waffles with caramel in between. It is a well known dutch treat. Oliebollen is a traditional dutch beignet. This dutch recipe for oliebollen is popular during the holidays and is a perfect dutch new years recipe because oliebollen are usually sold around christmas and new years. It is a yeasted dough, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Usually they are served with powdered sugar.

Stroopwafel Oliebollen

Stroopwafel Oliebollen Ingredients

✿ 500 Grams Flour
✿ 500 Milliliters Milk
✿ 7 Grams Yeast
✿ 2 Tablespoons Sugar
✿ Pinch Of Salt
✿ 3 - 4 Stroopwafels

Prepare Ingredients

Cut Stroopwafel In Pieces.

Oliebollen From Scratch

Mix Batter

Make Oliebollen Batter.

How To Make Oliebollen

Rest

Rest For 1 Hour.

Deep Fry

Deep Fry 5 - 8 Min.

Oliebollen

Serve

Serve While Hot.




Cut stroopwafels in desired pieces.





Activate the yeast with lukewarm milk and sugar.

Sift the flour. Add activated yeast. Mix until combined. Add the egg and mix until the egg is incorporated. Add in the stroopwafels. Mix again until combined.




Cover with plastic film. Let it rest for 1 hour.







Grease 2 spoons. Take some batter and shape it in a ball . Carefully slide it in the oil. Deep fry approx 5 - 8 min on medium heat (+/- 350F). Until golden brown.







Best eaten while hot with powdered sugar

TIPS & NOTES
✿ Deep frying time depends on the sizes of the oliebollen. Small ones takes approx 5 - 6 Min. Bigger ones will take approx. 8 min
✿ Deep fry on medium heat approx 350F. If the heat is too high the oliebollen will be undercooked in the middle.
✿ Try other fillings like apples, raisins or nuts ✿◕ ‿ ◕✿
