Today we will learn how to make a Chinese take out dish, How to make Mongolian beef! Mongolian beef is one of the many popular stir fry beef dishes available at take out restaurants. It is also one of my family's favorite dishes. It pairs perfectly with rice and it’s a great dish to make for dinner or served as a side dish when cooking for large gatherings.
What Is MoNgolian Beef?
Mongolian beef is a dish from Taiwan consisting of sliced beef, typically flank steak, usually made with onions. The beef is commonly paired with scallions or mixed vegetables and can be non spicy or spicy. The dish is often served over steamed rice, or in the US, over crispy fried cellophane noodles.
Today I will show you the basic recipe for how to make Mongolian beef. Like all my other recipes, feel free to adjust the recipe to your liking. Usually the ones we order from the restaurants are too salty to our liking or don't have enough beef. By making it at home you can adjust the flavor and add as much beef you want!

Mongolian Beef | 蒙古牛肉
Mongolian Beef Ingredients
Beef Marinade:
✿ 1 Teaspoon Soy Sauce
✿ 1 Tablespoon Cornstarch
✿ Pepper to taste
✿ 1 Teaspoon Oil
Sauce:
✿ 1 Tablespoon Oyster Sauce
✿ 1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
✿ 1 - 2 Teaspoons Sugar
✿ 1 Teaspoon Cornstarch + ⅓ Cup Water
✿ 300 Grams Flank Steak
✿ 3 Spring Onions
✿ 1 Onion
✿ 1 - 2 Garlic Cloves
✿ Chili Pepper (Optional)

Cut onion in strips. Cut spring onion in strips as well. Mince Garlic. Slice beef in thin strips.
Marinate the beef. Massage the seasoning in the meat.
To make the sauce, combine all the ingredients together.
Heat up a pan with oil. Sear the beef on both sides. Sear in 2 batches if using a smaller pan. Remove the meat from the pan.
Cook onion and white part of spring onion until fragrant. Add garlic and pepper. Add the cooked beef and remaining parts of the spring onion. Mix to combine . Add sauce and cook until sauce has thickened.

TIPS & NOTES
✿ Adjust sauce to personal preferences.
✿ Delicious with white rice or serve as a side dish.
✿ For a non spicy version eliminate the chili pepper.
