Japanese Stir-Fried Noodle | Udon Noodles Stir Fry 焼きうどん

If you’re looking for a quick, flavorful, and satisfying noodle dish, let me introduce you to your new favorite weeknight dinner: Yaki Udon (焼きうどん).

This popular Japanese stir-fried noodle dish is made with thick, chewy udon noodles, crisp vegetables, and your choice of protein, all tossed in a savory, slightly sweet soy-based sauce. It’s simple, customizable, and comes together in just 20 minutes — perfect for busy days or when those takeout cravings hit.

🍲 What Is Yaki Udon?

Yaki Udon literally means “fried udon” in Japanese. Unlike ramen or soba, udon noodles are thick, soft wheat noodles that absorb sauces beautifully while maintaining a springy bite.

Originally from southern Japan (Fukuoka), Yaki Udon is often seen as the heartier cousin to Yakisoba, but made with udon noodles instead of soba noodles.

Yaki Udon is the kind of dish that proves simple ingredients can still create big flavors. Whether you're craving Japanese takeout or want a quick and satisfying home-cooked meal, this recipe delivers every time.
